Back Stabbers

1972 Philadelphia International Records stereo LP of The O’Jays’ Back Stabbers, catalog KZ 31712, a 33 1/3 RPM single-LP album produced in the orbit of Gamble-Huff and Sigler. The exact pressing is not identified and this copy is not represented as a first pressing, but the jacket and labels carry the period 1972 CBS/Philadelphia International markings.

The front cover presents the group in a tight color portrait against a muted green-gray field, with bold white O’Jays and Back Stabbers typography and the Philadelphia International logo near the bottom. The shrink remains on the jacket, including a blue Disc-O-Tape retail sticker on the front; the back cover shifts to a black-and-white group image with printed track list, arranger and musician credits, Sigma Sound Studios recording credit, Columbia/CBS distribution text, and “Printed in U.S.A.” notation.

The vinyl is black with yellow Philadelphia International labels showing the KZ 31712 catalog number and side identifiers AL 31712 and BL 31712. Tracks include Back Stabbers, Time to Get Down, 992 Arguments, Sunshine, and Love Train, placing the album squarely in the polished, socially alert Philadelphia soul sound of the early 1970s.

Condition is collectible but honestly handled: outer sleeve VG+, shrink-wrapped with minimal wear and light edge/corner age visible; record VG with superficial surface wear. Housed with a plain white inner sleeve.
