Back To The Egg

1979 Columbia/MPL early pressing of Wings’ Back To The Egg, presented as a single 33 1/3 rpm LP with matrix number AL-36057-1D. Produced by Paul McCartney and Chris Thomas, this copy represents the album in its late-1970s vinyl format rather than a later deluxe, limited, or signed issue.

The front sleeve carries the album’s shadowed, science-fiction-tinged cover photograph: the band gathered over a blue-lit hatch or console, with the Earth suspended below in the darkness. The reverse sets the Back To The Egg title and Wings name in small label-style panels, lists the “Sunny Side Up” and “Over Easy” sides, and presents individual portraits of Paul McCartney, Linda McCartney, Denny Laine, Steve Holley, and Laurence Juber. Detail photos also show a yellow Wings / Back To The Egg title strip and a small feature sticker noting “Getting Closer,” “Old Siam, Sir,” “Spin It On,” and “Arrow Through Me.”

The outer sleeve is graded Very Good with some very light overall wear, consistent with modest handling rather than heavy damage. The black vinyl is also graded Very Good, with superficial wear noted on side 2; the Columbia/MPL center labels remain readable, with the album’s egg-themed side design intact. A grounded collectible copy of late-1970s Wings, retaining strong period artwork and identifiable pressing detail.
