Music From Big Pink

1968 Capitol Records stereo LP of The Band’s Music From Big Pink, a single 33 1/3 record in gatefold format, with Jacksonville pressing information and matrix detail SKAO1 2955 W4 O noted. The jacket carries catalog number SKAO 2955, with the rear panel’s stark black-and-white “MUSIC FROM BIG PINK” typography, Capitol branding, stereo compatibility text, and EMI/RIAA markings visible.

The front cover presents the album’s loose, childlike painted scene, bordered in black and marked © B.D. 1968. Inside, the gatefold opens to printed notes, photographs, and the track listing, including “The Weight,” “Chest Fever,” “This Wheel’s On Fire,” and “I Shall Be Released.” The vinyl is pressed on Capitol’s black label with multicolor rim, with John Simon credited as producer and The Band members named on the label.

Condition is Very Good for both the record and outer sleeve. The vinyl shows normal visible surface evidence under light, while the jacket shows honest period handling: age toning to the white areas, shelf rubbing, edge and corner wear, and small creases along the borders. A collectible Capitol copy whose packaging still carries the quiet, rustic mythology of Big Pink.
